Seoul Food '98
Rising income levels in Korea have brought about profound changes in the Korean diet and patterns of consumption. Primarily the result of westernization and specialization, these trends have naturally led to a stronger demand both for new food and beverage products and for the plant to produce such items. Reflecting its potential as one of the region's largest and fastest growing food markets, the 16th Seoul Food Exhibition is based on a record of outstanding success. To be held at the Korea Exhibition Center (KOEX) April 4th to April 8th 1998, Seoul Food '98 is expected to attract manufacturers and distributors of the most comprehensive range of food, food additives, beverages and liquors, food processing and retaining machinery, food packaging machinery, and hotel and restaurant equipment. This KOTRA- organized event is an excellent opportunity for participants to build their dealer network, expand their business, and introduce new products or seek out joint venture partners.

Media & Film Expo '97
The information age's latest in visual hardware and software will be on display at this year's Seoul Media & Film Expo. Last year's event gave 70,000 visual media professionals an opportunity to compare products which integrated existing equipment with new computer technologies. Visitors to this year's expo at KOEX Dec. 8th to Dec. 11th will be able to witness video conferencing, virtual reality, and animation S/W in action, plus a range of hardware which includes laser disc and video CD H/W, video and film editing equipment and karaoke machines.

Protection Korea 1997
Increasing security concerns have encouraged the growth in Korea of a domestic industry geared to providing an array of protection systems for the home, commercial and public facilities. These concerns and the attendant industry have found expression the creation of the first Korea International Protection Show to be held at the KOEX Dec. 17th to Dec. 20th. Perimeter protection, locking mechanisms, lighting controls and security software will be featured at this inaugural event sponsored by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Police Bureau and the Korea Security Association, as will fire prevention and data protection systems.

CALS/EC APEC '97
Cyberspace marketing is so increasingly the choice of department stores, specialty houses and even governments that industry observers now believe 30 percent of global trade will be executed electronically by the year 2030.
Such developments point to the timeliness of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation exhibition and conference on Computer Aided Acquisition and Logistic Support (CALS) and Electronic Commerce (EC). Some 70 companies from 18 countries in Asia-Pacific will exhibit CALS-related technology and equipment from Dec. 8th to Dec. 11th 1997 at KOEX. Conference topics range from the Internet/Extranet to electronic money to CALS in industry.

Seoul Stoff '97
As the demand for high-quality, differentiated textile materials increases, Seoul Stoff has emerged as an excellent venue to exchange information on fashion trends and expanding business in the potentially huge Northeast Asia textile market. Capitalizing on ten years of success, organizer the Korea Federation of Textile Industries has designated Seoul Stoff from this year onward a fabric and yarn speciality show. Organizers are anticipating Korea's rapidly-developing domestic fashion market will attract textile companies worldwide to this year's Seoul Stoff to be held at KOEX over four days from Dec. 12th to Dec. 15th 1997.

AMUSE WORLD '97
The burgeoning international domestic game software and theme park equipment industry will put its latest wares on display at the 1997 World Amusement Machine Manufacturers' Association to be held at KOEX Dec. 17th. to the 20th. The anticipated 100,000 visitors will be able to sample virtual reality games, simulator rides, rollercoaster equipment as well as large-format 3-D films. Organized by KOEX and the Korean Aumusement Machine Manufacturers' Association, 100 companies from 15 countries are expected to attend.

ORI-MED KOREA '97
The continuing popularity of traditional medicine in Korea indicates both the efficacy of this form of treatment and the depth to which it is embodied in Korean culture. The second Seoul International Medical Technology fair and conference, to be held at KOEX Dec. 5th to Dec. 8th 1997, is the only event of its kind to specialize in oriental medicine and its practice. In addition to numerous related industry and professional bodies, ORI-MED '97 is sponsored by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries.

SEMICON KOREA '98
The Korean semiconductor industry is characterized by tremendous activity, and SEMICON KOREA, the industry's showcase event, regularly draws thousands of professionals worldwide. Visitors to this year's event to be held at KOEX Jan. 17th. to Jan. 25th. will be able to examine cutting-edge developments in semiconductor equipment and services at over 800 booths operated by 500 exhibitors.

Kyung Hyang Housing Fair '98
The quest for professional excellence and Koreans' increasingly sophisticated demands in the field of housing are the driving forces behind the popularity of the Housing Fair, organized by the Kyung Hyang Daily Newspaper.
Exhibits will feature housing materials for a wide variety of applications, construction tools, Do-It-Yourself products, and landscape architecture, among others. A information center will provide information on such housing-related subjects as tax law and house planning. The fair will run at KOEX from Feb. 21st through to Feb. 26th.

Seoul Cable & Satellite '98
The resounding success of Cable & Satellite '97 is firm testimony to the rapid development of this fledgling industry. More than 25,000 visitors, almost 60 percent of them in related manufacturing, research or broadcasting and the press, came to see the exhibits of 85 companies. Korea's growing thirst for programming and the means to deliver it will ensure this year's show is an even greater success. Leading-edge cable TV and DBS equipment, parts and services, together with the latest in broadcasting and sound equipment will be featured at Cable & Satellite '98 to be held at KOEX March 4th to March 8th 1998.
