 ENVEX '98 Mounting concern over the protection of the environment has given rise to an internationally-based industry utilizing leading-edge technologies. The highly competitive nature of this field will find full expression at the 20th International Exhibition on Environmental Technologies to be held at the KOEX, June 16th to the 19th. Technologies on display will range from incineration to landfilling, and from odor control to waste water treatment. ENVEX '97 attracted 201 companies from 13 countries, and provided them with a valuable springboard through which to exploit the environmental market in Korea. KOPLAS '98 The Korea International Plastics & Rubber Show was established by associated industry and professional groups to further the development of the industry in Korea and neighboring countries. The fact this year's KOPLAS to be held April 22nd through to the 26th at the KOEX is the 14th such event is testimony to the continuing popularity and importance of the show to the industry. Organizers are promoting this year's KOPLAS for its potential to encourage technological cooperation between domestic corporations and their foreign counterparts looking to invest in Korea. CERAKOR '98 Ceramics form so much a part of everyday life, their importance often eludes us. The 6th Korea International Ceramics Industry Show brings home the complexity and pervasiveness of the industry. Exhibits will be grouped to reflect the process of manufacture: raw materials, finished and semi-finished products, fine ceramics, processing equipment and machinery, firing equipment, and analysis equipment. CERAKOR '98 runs at the KOEX April 22nd to the 26th. EXPO COM WIRELESS KOREA '98 Last year's opening of Korea's telecommunications market plus the exhibition of leading-edge technologies CDMA, PCS, TRS, satellite communications and multiple paging services, accounted for EXPO COMM '97's outstanding success, attracting over 50,000 visitors. Some 125 companies including major industry players Ericsson, Motorola, and Qualcomm as well as home-grown giants Hyundai, LG and SK Telecom will exhibit at this year's event as competition for winning solutions intensifies in Korea's burgeoning telecommunications sector, expected to grow by 92 percent by 2000. EXPO COMM '98 runs at the KOEX May 23rd to the 26th. KOBA '98 One of the largest industry shows of its kind in Asia, the 8th Korea International Broadcast & Audio Equipment Show will be held at KOEX May 15th to May 18th. Organized in response to the explosion in Asian broadcasting, KOBA '98 will provide an up-to-the-minute showcase of the latest in broadcasting equipment, satellite broadcasting systems, cable systems, plus audio, video and motion picture techniques. SICHEM '98 The full gamut of chemical engineering technology will be on display at the Seoul International Chemical Plant Industry Show to be held at the KOEX April 22nd to April 25th. The exhibit list includes new chemical technologies, biotechnologies, robotic systems, chemical and powder equipment, waste disposal systems, a wide variety of examples of plant engineering, and the latest in fire-fighting equipment. Supported by the Japanese and American institutes of chemical engineers, as well as a host of associated business and professional organizations, this year's SICHEM promises to have a strong international component. SINOFA '98 Looking to give your office a makeover in 1998? The Seoul International New Office Fair at the KOEX June 8th to June 11th might just be the place to start. SINOFA '98 will feature the latest in office furniture, computers, control systems, lighting, furnishings, floor coverings, and interior decoration. ELECTRONIC WEEK '98 With the Korean electronics industry set to grow by 16 percent in 1998, this year's Electronic Week takes on a special significance for producers and distributers alike. To be held at the Korea Exhibition Center (KOEX) April 14th to the 16th, Electronic Week is a coalition of three component events: NEPCON, the International Electronic Packaging & Production Exhibition, which deals with equipment and materials for micro-electronics, LCDs, hybrids, displays and semiconductors; KEPES the International Electronic Parts & Components Show, which deals with items for computers, home appliances, communication equipment and displays; and EMCO, the Korea Electronic Measurement Control Interface Show. IPP '98 Host last year to 144 companies from 15 countries, organizers say the 1998 International Exhibition of Machinery and materials for Packaging and Processing and Production to be held at the KOEX from June 6th to the 19th. is set to attract a record 20,000 potential customers. A comprehensive display of wood, plastic, metallic, paper and board packaging materials as well as the plant to produce and process them, IPP '97 attracted 14,000 visitors, 87 percent of them in management, sales, purchasing, production, or R&D. OPTICS & PHOTO '98 Capitalizing on the success of last year's event, the 1998 International Optics & Photo-Imaging Industry Show will be held at the KOEX May 22nd to the 26th. OPTICS & PHOTO '97 attracted more than 25,000 visitors, the bulk of them technical personnel, or in management, marketing, or purchasing. Some 15 percent came to buy, while 17 percent came to gather information. Cameras and accessories were the main focus of interest followed by photo finishing and optical equipment. KORTEX '98 The size of Korean textile industry in particular and in Asia in general is the major reason for the continued attraction of the 12th Korea International Textile Machinery Exhibition. With preparations reaching their conclusion, it is clear this year's KORTEX will be the biggest to date. Some 200 companies from over 20 countries including Germany and France will exhibit approximately 2,000 state-of-the-art weaving, spinning, knitting, dyeing, finishing, and embroidery machines, as well as CAD/CAM and textile analysis equipment. KORTEX '98 runs at the KOEX May 2nd to the 6th.
