KAPAS '98

Few industrial success stories can rival the rise of the Korean automobile industry from its infancy in the 1960s to the position of fifth in the world today. Reflecting this growth, imports of auto parts grew from $1.2 to $2.2 billion from 1991 to 1996 and Korea International Auto Parts & Accessories Show '98 to be held at the KOEX July 8-11 gives all suppliers the chance to capitalize on this market. Organized by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the focus of this year's KAPAS will be the search for joint venture and technical tie-up opportunities in a drive to spur industry competitiveness.

STEEL-TECH '98

Korea's phenomenal economic growth over the past three decades has spawned a huge and many-faceted domestic construction industry. The industry's degree of specialization and technological advancement is evidenced by the Seoul Steel Construction Technology Show '98 to be held at the KOEX July 1-5. The show will encompass the latest in structural steel construction materials and fabrication together with displays of contemporary steel structural engineering and architecture. Structural steel CAD/CAM and iron and steel recycling technology are also featured. An industry-sponsored technical program and symposium will be held concurrently.

SEK '98/Windows World '98

Korea is one of the world's fastest growing computer/ software markets. The PC market has grown by 18 percent annually since 1993 to the point where ownership now stands at one in seven persons. Meanwhile, the software industry has grown by 40 percent per year, which includes a 200 percent per year boom in Internet-related technology. The 12th Computer/Software Exhibition of Korea together with Windows World offers industry players and their products outstanding exposure to key mass buyers. More than 270 industry leaders will exhibit at SEK '98 which is expected to draw more than 230,000 attendees, more than half of whom will be IT professionals. SEK '98/Windows World '98 will run at KOEX June 24-27.

KISS '98

Safety on the job, on the streets, at school and at the workplace is becoming an increasingly important issue in Asia's emerging urban societies. The 16th Korean International Safety & Security Exhibition, together with a concurrent display of plant engineering and working environment maintenance systems will provide solutions to the perennial problem of how to keep these locations hazard and accident free. Just a sampling of the products and systems on display includes traffic control equipment, gas and alarm detectors, hazardous material treatment methods, dust collectors, welding fume eliminators, and slip-prevention treatments. A separate exhibition features firefighting, emergency and rescue equipment. Catch the KISS at the KOEX, July 1-4.

INTERHEALTH '98

Inaugurated by health food and equipment industry professionals in 1987, INTERHEALTH is the one of the largest trade shows of its kind in East Asia. More than 150,000 visitors including 3,000 involved in the trade visited last year's show to sample the wholly-natural wines, liquors, beers, fruit juices, coffees, teas and view an array of equipment designed to promote a healthy lifestyle. INTERHEALTH runs at the KOEX June 16-19.

OPSEC '98

The 1998 Open Computing Solution Fair is a must for anyone whose business involves data retrieval, storage, or transmission. Opening at the KOEX July 9-12, OPSEC '98 gives data management professionals the opportunity to take in the latest in servers and super servers, Unix and open systems, network computing and products and systems, dataware housing, and Internet, Intranet and E-mail. CONBEX '98

Soaring industrial and residential demands plus projects such as the Korea/Japan-hosted 2002 World Cup are set to fuel a building boom in Asia-Pacific. Estimated to continue well into the next century, the boom will creating a huge demand for construction equipment and material. To provide buyers with the opportunity to assess a broad range of products and materials under one roof, the Korea Construction/Building Equipment & Materials Exhibition. will be held at the KOEX July 2-5. Last year's CONBEX attracted over 30,00 visitors, the bulk of them contractors, importer/ exporters, architects or project managers.

Water Service '98

The most recent advances in the technology to maintain and improve the reliability of safety of water supplies will be on display at the KOEX July 9-12 during the Seoul International Water Service Fair '98. A wide variety of valves, faucets, water meters, pumps, strainers, pipes, will comprise the exhibition as will chemical water treatments, water leak detectors, data processing systems and welding machinery.


KIPES '98

Major Korean dailies the Hankook Ilbo, the Seoul Kyungje and the Korea Times are jointly sponsoring the 11th Korea International Printing Machinery & Equipment Show with the aim of promoting the Korean and regional printing machinery industry and stimulating technological cooperation between domestic and international industry players. To be held at the KOEX August 27-30, KIPES '98 will display leading-edge technology in typesetting and composing, film-making and picture-processing, plate-making, offset printing and other processes vital to the printing industry.


Rental Expo Korea '98

Increasing inflation, maintenance costs, the increasing demand for short-term product use, plus reduced product life span have all contributed to the rise of rental services. The Korean rental market at first followed the overseas pattern of focussing on the provision of measuring instruments. However, the passage of time has seen the proliferation of a variety of specialized rental services dealing with fields as diverse as telecommunications lines and office automation and construction equipment, in addition to household effects and necessities such as mobile toilets. The full gamut of rental service providers will be on view at Rental Expo Korea, to be held at the Korea Exhibition Centre (KOEX), June 8-11.


VALVE & PIPING '98

Running concurrently with Water Service '98 at the KOEX will be a complimentary event, the Seoul International Valve & Piping Show, featuring pumps, valves, fittings, flanges, pigging systems, insulation, CAD and anti-corrosion and cleaning systems.
