A new hands-free in-car phone kit has been
developed by Saeyoung Telecom Co., Ltd. for use with
PCS, PHS, mobile phones, CDMA/GSM/TDMA digital
systems and AMPS/ETACS analogue systems. The kit
links a phone with the voice transmission system placed
in a car's cassette deck by means of an earphone jack,
and enables the driver to hear callers through the audio
system's speakers. The kit consists of the earphone
jack, microphone and a cassette tape-like voice
transmission system. The product is easily installed and
comes with an adapter for phone models without an
earphone jack.
New from Samsung Electronics is a tapeless pen-shaped portable voice
recorder. It uses 8MB flash memory semiconductor chips instead of tape
to provide up to 70 minutes of recording time, and can store up to 99
messages. The telephone numbers of calling parties are also stored
automatically along with their messages. The Voice Pen will play
continuously for up to four hours powered by a single A++ type battery. 
CardHome can be used to transfer image data
from a digital still camera to a desktop PC, is
compatible with all standard PCMCIA card
drivers, and supports ATA type HDD and flash
disk memory cards. It is supported by Types
I/II/III for PCMCIA2.1/JEIDA 4.1. 'CardHome'
consists of a 3.5-inch drive for PCMCIA cards
and ISA slot cards and two flat connecting
cables. A software driver is optional since it
works well with the base driver of Windows
95/98. Sarotech Co. is aiming to be a leader in
the field of card readers. The company's PC card
reader for PCI types and compact Flash & Smart
media reader for parallel interfacing will be on
display at the next CeBit electronics goods show
to be held in Hanover, Germany, March 18-24,
1999.
